Writing the Article

When you decide to go into an online business, one of the most important things you will need is traffic. One of the easiest ways to get that traffic is by submitting articles to the submission sites. It is very important that you know how to write an article that is good enough to bring people to your site. Here are some steps you should take to ensure that your article will be read and bring you quality traffic.

  • The first thing you must do is to decide on a topic for your article. Remember that the best articles have something to do with your blog or website. If you are building a site that sells accessories or food for your pet. Then you should write about accessories and food for your pet and why it is important to have these things when you have a pet.
  • Next, you will want to come up with a group of keywords that will lead people to your website, this is fairly important because when a person is searching for imformation they put in keywords that help them on the search engine to find your information. So if you are writing about accessories or food for your pet, you may use keywords or keyword phrases (two or more words together) throughout your article. If you use this example, you key words may be "pet accessories", "pet food", "best dog food" "dog sweater" and any number of keywords. The rule of thumb is to use a keyword density which means it should be repeated throughout the text, remember 1% or 2% is enough, so you should repeat the word one or two times per 100 words.
  • The next step is the opening of the article, you will need a strong opening that makes people want to continue to read what you have to say. Use active sentences, they need to know you feel strongly about what ever you have to say. Create a thesis statement that lets them know what they will be seeing later on in the text.
  • The content part of this article needs to contain a lot of valuable information, however dont be redundant and use a lot of useless words and phrases. If you are saying that the dog prefers food that tastes like meat, you dont have to say "the hungry dog prefers to eat tasty food that tastes like red meat". Loading the article with useless words does not make it more valuable.
  • The closing of your article should include a "call to action", you always want to include something that makes a person know it is time to get to work and buy something, research something, read something, or just plain do something. It should also summarize what you have been saying through out the entire article.
  • Lastly and possibly most importantly, create a good resource box, it should introduce you, your company or website (such as My website "What Pets Need" offers you insight on what foods and accessories are right for your pet."), why you are an authority on this particular subject, and a link to the website.

When you are trying to bring people to your website, word counts do not ensure quality. Just because your article has 500 words does not mean that you have any useful information. Shorter more to the point articles with a ton of useful information is a lot better than a long drawn out article about nothing.

The last thing you will want to do is choose an article submission site and here is a short list of some great ones to write to.
